On July 3, 2023, the Party Committee of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a conference to review the Party building work for the first 6 months and outline the tasks for the latter 6 months of 2024.
Attending the conference were Comrade Nguyen Thi La - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City University and College; Comrade Dang Thuy Khanh Van - Member of the Executive Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City University and College; Comrade Huynh Van Quang - Vice Chairman of the Party Committee Inspection Commission of Ho Chi Minh City University and College; Comrade Vu Anh Duc - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of TDTU; Comrade Tran Trong Dao - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, the President of TDTU; and all Party members of the University.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the Party Committee of the University provided timely leadership and direction in implementing the University’s key political tasks and focal activities. It continued to carry out educational and training activities according to the schedule and timetable of Semester II/2023-2024, diversified forms of promotional and communication activities for the 2024-2025 academic year enrolment, and completed the accreditation of educational institutions according to FIBAA standards (2024-2030) with 18 more certified and quality-assured study programs under FIBAA, ASIIN, and AUN-QA standards. International cooperation and foreign affairs work, as well as scientific research, continue to be maintained and enhanced. The University established the Council of Professors in 2024 and implemented the Digital Transformation Project of Ton Duc Thang University for the period 2024-2030. It timely updated regulations, evaluated the implementation of the third 5-year Plan (2019-2024), and prepared for the fourth 5-year Development Plan (2025-2030) for the University. Furthermore, efforts were made to innovate the content and methods of propaganda work, study party resolutions, and provide information on domestic and international current affairs to foster unity of will and action within the Party Committee, thereby contributing to strengthening and enhancing trust in the Party’s leadership role.
The Party Committee of the University organized 2 training sessions on Party building skills and professional development for the 18 grassroots party cells under its jurisdiction. It conducted a review and added to the 2024 planning for the managerial officials of units affiliated with or under Ton Duc Thang University for the term 2021-2026, and planned the leadership and management officials for the University for the term 2026-2031 according to regulations. Party development work was emphasized, with 18 new party members recruited as of June 30, 2024, marking an increase of 14 members compared to the same period last year, when only 4 members were recruited. The Party carried out inspections and monitoring in accordance with the prescribed program, and effectively promoted the “Skillful People’s Movement” campaign, which was aligned with the political tasks of each unit and individual. The Party Committee continued to lead the implementation of democratic regulations in the activities of Ton Duc Thang University and oversaw the activities of the Trade Union and Youth Union by organizing practical activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of members, employees, and students who are closely tied to the unit and University’s political tasks.
At the conference, the Party Committee conducted a review combining the assessment of the 3-year implementation of Conclusion 01-KL/TW on the continued enactment of Directive 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016, of the Political Bureau on promoting the study and following the ideology, morality, and style of Ho Chi Minh. They also discussed the implementation and thorough understanding of Regulation No. 85-QD/TW dated October 7, 2022 of the Secretariat for officials and Party members in establishing and using personal electronic information pages on the internet and social networks.
In her directive speech at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Thi La - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City University and College, acknowledged the collective efforts of the University’s Party Committee in effectively leading and guiding the implementation of the University’s political tasks. She emphasized the importance of regularly monitoring and grasping the ideological trends among cadres, Party members, civil servants, officials, and students to promptly and effectively address emerging issues. She also stressed the need to continue effectively implementing Conclusion 01 on implementing Directive 05 of the Political Bureau regarding studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style, with annual themes, and timely recognizing, rewarding, and replicating exemplary models. Furthermore, she directed the effective implementation of grassroots democratic regulations, enhanced the efficiency of organizational activities, and ensured practical care for the livelihoods of cadres and officials. She emphasized strengthening inspection, supervision, and strict adherence to Party discipline, state laws, and regulations. Additionally, she highlighted areas needing deeper analysis in reports to devise better implementation strategies for the future.
In concluding the conference, Comrade Vu Anh Duc - Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, acknowledged the discussions and suggestions made during the conference. He expressed gratitude for the guidance and recommendations provided by the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City University and College. He emphasized that during the recent period, the Party Committee, the University Council, and the Presidential Board have organized a conference to evaluate the results of implementing the third 5-year Development Plan (2019-2024) and to outline the directions for the University Development Plan (2025-2030). At the conference, discussions were held and consensus was reached to approve the draft updates regarding the educational philosophy, mission, vision, and long-term goals of the University. These updates were officially passed by the University Council at its 19th Meeting on June 28, 2024. Therefore, to effectively carry out the key tasks in the remaining 6 months of the year and implement the University Development Plan in the coming period, all members of the Party Committee are urged to thoroughly study and take initiative. They should coordinate with the authorities to effectively implement the contents of the University Development Plan (2025-2030), while also reviewing the results of the targets set in resolutions at all levels of congress, especially for the grassroots Party cells during the term 2022 - 2025.
On this occasion, the Party Committee of the University has organized commendations for 4 groups and 30 individuals who have achieved outstanding results in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style from May 19, 2023 to May 19, 2024.
