On April 26, 2024, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) solemnly held a ceremony to announce Ton Duc Thang University’s achievement of institutional accreditation according to the FIBAA standard for the period 2024-2030. During this ceremony, the University also announced that 18 undergraduate and master’s programmes have been granted the Certificate of Quality Accreditation according to FIBAA, ASIIN and AUN-QA standards.
The announcement ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Huynh Dam, Former Member of the Party Central Committee and Former Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung, Former Member of the Party Central Committee and Former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Member of the Council of Ton Duc Thang University; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Hong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City University and College; Prof. Huynh Van Chuong, Director General of the Education Quality Management Agency, Ministry of Education and Training; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director General of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training; along with representatives from diplomatic agencies, local authorities of District 7 People’s Committee; representatives from various provinces, cities; universities, educational institutions in Vietnam and other countries, Federation of Labour of different provinces, cities, amicable enterprises and media agencies.
From TDTU, there were the presence of Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh, Chairwoman of the Founding Council of Ton Duc Thang University; Dr. Vu Anh Duc - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of Ton Duc Thang University; Dr. Tran Trong Dao - Chairman of the Science and Training Council, President of Ton Duc Thang University, along with members of the University Council and Presidential Board, as well as all lecturers, staff and a large number of former PhD students, master’s students, and current undergraduates at the University.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Chairman of the Science and Training Council of Ton Duc Thang University, affirmed: “The accreditation, recognition, and ranking results have marked a very important step for Ton Duc Thang University in the process of internationalization and development of a world-class university. The fact that TDTU has achieved international standards in terms of training quality, research, and other services has significantly increased learners’ career opportunities and academic levels to an extent which is comparable to those in developed countries worldwide.”
In his congratulatory speech to the University, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, highly praised the investment of time, efforts, resources, and intellect of all lecturers, students, and staff of the University throughout the meticulous and professional process of institutional and programme accreditation according to international standards, which has contributed to today’s outcomes of the University. He stated, “This is one of the remarkable accomplishments of Ton Duc Thang University, allowing other educational institutions to learn from and share their experiences in accreditation and education quality assurance.”
At the ceremony, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, said “27 years of construction and development may not be a long journey for a university, but it is long enough to propel itself into one of the leading universities in Vietnam, which is respected and highly regarded by colleagues, organizations, and enterprises. With their relentless effort, spirit of devotion, and a sense of creativity, generations of leaders, staff, educators, and students of the University have developed Ton Duc Thang University into an institution with a modern, advanced educational environment whose philosophy and codes of conduct are in accordance with international standards, while the distinctive Vietnamese identity is still well-maintained.”
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, in his congratulatory speech to the University, also asserted that educational quality accreditation is a continuous, long-term process that requires substantial investment, dedication, and coordination of various factors to meet the required standards and ensure its suitability. He also conveyed, “The certificate of institutional accreditation and the certificates of programme accreditation granted to the University today marks the beginning of a new phase, serving as a driving force as well as a challenge for Ton Duc Thang University to continue striving to maintain its title and make significant breakthroughs to continuously bring the quality, prestige, and brand of the University to new heights, both domestically and internationally, fully exploiting the University’s potential in the context of international integration, modern educational innovation, and the realization of the University’s development objectives and directions in the future.”
Especially, Mr. Ngo Duy Hien, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour noted, “April 26, 2024 will be a milestone in the University’s development process. This is the second time the University has been recognized for meeting the quality accreditation standards for educational institutions according to international standards. This important milestone provides additional motivation and strong inspiration for lecturers and students of the University to continue striving and achieving further success.”
To respond and express gratitude to the distinguished guests attending the event, Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Chairman of the Council of Ton Duc Thang University said, “The results of quality accreditation for educational institutions according to FIBAA standards and the certification of quality accreditation for study programmes according to international standards have marked a significant milestone in the University’s development process. Once again, it reaffirms the University’s reputation, quality, and ranking on the map of universities in the region and worldwide. The achievement of these results is not only credited to the efforts of all lecturers, staff, and students of the University but also the constant attention and guidance of the current leaders and former leaders of the Party Committee, the State, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Ministry of Education and Training, the municipal Party Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, as well as close coordination and timely support from different ministries, local authorities, and labor unions at all levels.
